Sonnet 5
***
She came calling and crying
Early one winter morning.
I asked why, she said she was dying,
And my joy turned to mourning…

Life is a fragile little thing-
Ever going on without us,
Till Death does give its sting…
And we return to the dust.

For dust we are now,
And to dust shall we return.
For life knows not how,
Yet still it will enjoy its burn.

Our time is but ashes-
Yet, if unlived is rashest.

BearGoesMeow
***
You should not have left us,
You should not have gone.
A broken chain is trust,
The links are undone.

I know what I’ve forgot,
I knew that you forgave…
I KNOW WHAT I’VE FORGOT!
YET STILL ONWARD TO OUR GRAVE!

We travel far for this destiny,
Yet it is an evident thing
That I have found within me
A darker circle of Hell’s Ring.

The Bear now shall mew,
The Cat shall devour you…

An Ideal Sequence of Chemickanical Failures
***
From fifteen thousand feet, just about everything looks beautiful. But somehow I just couldn't seem to be able to return the glances of this young buxom vixen, product of flashy urban fads and erotic pop culture, sitting across from me in seat 23B on Continental Airlines flight 518 en route to Chicago from San Francisco. I didn't bother to look at her because… well, because that's not what I'm after any more.
There may have been a time when I would have slid an alluring eye back at such a temptress, and followed her subtle, beckoning finger to the plane's lavatory for a quick rush of wild pleasure, but that's not what I'm after, not anymore. As I looked out of my small glass window, I began to wonder if what I desired dwelled anywhere down in the wide green earth below. Slowly my wonderings turned into wishes and as my eyes began to wane, they turned to hopes, and as the lids of my eyes shut, my hopes turned into dreams, and I fell gently into a deep, peaceful sleep.
I woke to the sound of our entire right jet engine exploding off its wing and into a million pieces of fiery particles, writing “DOOM” across the bulging, gray clouds of the sky in bright orange letters. By some act of God, the wing happened to remain intact on the body of the plane; however, I could already hear the left engine sputtering from exhaustion. It was inevitable. Our altitude would soon begin to drop and we'd hit bottom, eventually.
Once people had realized what had happened, there was screaming and insanity, and then of course the flight attendant comes on the intercom telling everybody to calm down and that we were all going to die in a fiery ball of blazing glory. And of course, she didn't actually say that but we all knew what was happening anyways, so she could have said that her pet frog had gotten sick and jumped onto her stove to commit suicide and everyone would have reacted in relatively the same way. And of course after about five minutes things calmed down on their own, because this was a controlled descent, we weren't in a nose-dive or anything dramatic, so basically all we had to do was just wait until our lives were smashed against some peak of the Rockies or until our other engine blew off and sent us plummeting to the earth.
After about another half hour the plane began to shake violently and again I heard a tremendous boom. After this, I must have gone unconscious because the next thing I recall is the plane being completely still and slightly slanted so that the front of the plane was downhill from my position. The people around me were frantic and I saw a lot of blood. I saw one of the exits open and numerous people rushing to it. I followed them and found myself in a large lake of water.
Apparently, the aircraft had gone slightly off course and landed somewhere in northern Colorado, where some freak flash flooding had occurred that very afternoon, which created the lake we landed in out of some huge ditch. While I was very fortunate to be alive, I was now in danger of drowning if I couldn't find dry ground or some kind of flotation device.
And it was in this moment of frantic despair that I saw her, that brilliant Fay of my dreams, sitting in a small rowboat. Her eyes were a deep blue and her hair was the most perfect hue of brown mixed with a radiant tint of red, and her face glowed like a goddess'. I nearly drowned at the very sight of her, but before I could she gracefully sailed her way over to me and held out her hand for mine. And I clasped it. I clasped it tightly. And I felt like our hands melted into each other and would never again come apart. As I sat down in the boat with her and looked into her eyes knowing I had seen them before in my sleep, as she looked into mine, we sailed. Without a mast, an oar, or a care in the world, we sailed. We sailed, we sailed, we sailed, away into the endless horizon of true hopes and dreams.
